Transparency on prices

We know we can't compete with Kroger, Safeway, Walmart, or Whole Foods on price. The base price we pay to brands, distributors, and Makers is much higher because of our small business scale. So, while large grocers make a 40–60% margin on their sales, we make 30%. We mark up less that big chains.

This challenge is also our strength—and it's why we work with small, local businesses when large grocers won't. Because of their high sales volumes, large grocers often make brands pay for shelf space. They demand increased scale and impose a myriad of other requirements that most small farms and businesses simply can't meet. It's ultimately why our curated assortment of local food is so unique and delicious.

You may not know where your money goes when you shop at a national grocer—but with us, you do. 70% goes directly to local makers and distributors—that's their share. Our 30% covers the wages of our delivery drivers, pickers, and packers. It supports our Denver-based customer service team. It sustains our infrastructure and a local team that cares deeply about our community.

We know we can't compete with national grocers on price, but we want you to know that when you shop with PineMelon, your hard-earned money is going back into the community, and to your health. Thank you for your support.
